Resident of the European College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists

Matina graduated from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), Greece in 2012. After a brief start in a first opinion practice she undertook a two year surgical rotating internship at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of AUTH. At that point Matina had the opportunity to visit several well-recognised referral centres and see practice with board-certified veterinary ophthalmologists in USA (University of Florida) and Italy. After the end of her internship she returned to primary care working as a veterinary surgeon at a busy practice in Athens and by the end of that year she submitted and presented her thesis gaining her Master's degree. Matina's focus has always been on veterinary ophthalmology. In 2015, she moved to the UK to work as an intern in Ophthalmology at Optivet Referrals under the supervision of Robert Lowe (RCVS Specialist in Veterinary Ophthalmology) and Natalia Escanilla Medina (ECVO Diplomate). She is now training, to become a specialist, as an ophthalmology resident at Optivet Referrals.
